Diamond Pythons are the predominant species of Carpet Python native to South East Australia.
Also known as (Morelia spilota spilota) these snakes are rarely found outside of their native habitat. To my knowledge I am one of just a few people who keep Diamond Pythons in the UK.
Hi all you Diamond Python devotees, my name is Nick Howson and I have kept and bred reptiles and amphibians for over 35 years. This is not hereditary as none of my daughters appear to have shown any interest in keeping reptiles although my nephew Tom has an adult cornsnake which I gave him several years ago.
I began keeping reptiles in the 1970's when you could buy european lizards and snakes for about ten bob (about 50p) and as time went by progressed to animals which were considerably more expensive but just as delightful.
I have kept and bred Day Geckos, Australian Water Dragons, Ridgetailed Monitors, Panther Chameleons and Brazilian Rainbow Boas etc. But have always has a soft spot for Diamond Pythons which I consider to be one of the most beautiful and intelligent of all the Python family (if not Snakes) I have seen.
5 years ago I had the money and the opportunity to buy seven Diamond Python hatchlings and yearlings captive bred in the UK and decided to focus solely on these. Subsequently I parted with all of the other snakes in my collection these included Jaguar Pythons and assorted Carpet Pythons. I have continued to enjoy keeping and hopefully breeding these beautiful animals and recently Ashley (my grandson) is beginning to show an interest (Hurrah!)

My other passions include cooking, gardening, riding my harley and playing flamenco guitar (but not necessarily in that order).
I hope you enjoy this site, please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Cheers, Nick
